The Da Vinci Code is a 2006 film directed by Ron Howard, which is based on the bestselling 2003 novel The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Because of some controversial interpretations and factual inaccuracies of Christian history in both the book and movie, they were criticised by the Catholic Church. Some bishops urged members to boycott the film. Many of the early showings were accompanied by protesters outside the movie theatres, and early critical reviews were decidedly negative. However, the film earned over US$230 million worldwide in its opening weekend, which at the time was the third biggest opening in history.

Angels & Demons is a 2009 American film adaptation of Dan Brown’s novel by the same name. It is the sequel to The Da Vinci Code, even though the novel Angels & Demons was published first and takes place before the novel The Da Vinci Code. Filming took place in Rome, Italy, and the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California. Tom Hanks reprises the lead role of Robert Langdon, while director Ron Howard, producer Brian Grazer, composer Hans Zimmer and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman also return.
